Manchester United V Newcastle United Preview:

The EFL cup returns, this time Newcastle United face a dejected Manchester United side after their weekend derby loss to rivals Manchester City, who Newcastle United defeated in order to reach the current stage. Newcastle will be feeling positive ahead of this game, hoping to progress into the next round, seeking a form of revenge after the disappointment of a loss in the final of this very competition last season.

However, there are some concerns for Eddie Howe’s side with key injuries including Alexander Isak, Sven Botman and Elliot Anderson all unable to play. In addition to this, recent news of Sandro Tonali’s suspension has ruled him out of any upcoming matches for 10 months.

Despite this, the Mags will be looking to capitalise on Ten Hag’s recently underwhelming side – who will be low in confidence after falling to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City. As well as this, they also have some injury concerns themselves. Players including Casemiro, Martinez and Wan – Bissaka will be expected to miss out on the upcoming match due to ongoing injuries.

The clash promises to be an entertaining one, but will black and white faithful be storming back to the North East triumphant with victory, or returning home defeated…
